OUR STORY This journey began in 1991 with the bold dream of founder Raymond Girard, then president of the Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal Foundation. A passionate advocate for Quebec visual arts, he envisioned greeting cards as a way to raise funds—an idea brought to life with the help of internationally renowned painter Littorio Del Signore.
Over time, Mr. Girard dedicated himself fully to designing greeting cards. In 1993, Éditions de Villers took flight. After more than a decade of growth under his leadership, a new generation took the reins in 2003.
The company became a full-fledged printing house, continuing to thrive in both corporate and charitable greeting card production. It launched fundraising campaigns for the Canadian Cancer Society, Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation, Opération Enfant Soleil, and LEUCAN.
Between 2008 and 2015, the company expanded through acquisitions such as Publi-Tact, Noël à la Carte, and Trois Crayons et cie—solidifying its place in the greeting card industry.
In 2011, Éditions de Villers won the national CANOPE Gold Award for print quality using 100% recycled paper, thanks to a development partnership with Cascades and its renowned ENVIRO 100 paper. Our cards were sold in retail outlets including Jean Coutu pharmacies, Renaud Bray bookstores, and Archambault.
In 2012, the company diversified. President Steve Fortin, a passionate advocate for physical activity, drew on his experience in organizing sporting events to develop a new race bib model tailored to Quebec’s running event organizers. A new sports division was born: .
Between 2015 and 2018, the rise of digital media and the paper crisis hit the industry hard. While greeting card sales declined, they remained a valued tradition in the business world—especially during the holiday season. Éditions de Villers also withdrew from retail stores due to competition from China and Europe.
Thanks to innovation and adaptability, since 2021 we’ve added new services to meet the needs of businesses, schools, and municipalities. Textile printing and embroidery are now part of our growing catalogue.
