Born in Montreal on November 21 1964, Micheline Couture considers herself to be a self-taught artist. Her interest in drawing begins in elementary school. As an adolescent she works in a Hochelaga-Maisonneuve restaurant and exhibits her art there. Stimulated by the interest and compliments generated by her work, she embarks in oil painting classes in her neighbourhood.
In her early twenties she becomes an “animatrice d’arts bénévoles” with the REVDEC organization for young “drop-outs” and then a volunteer teacher for children from 6 to 10 years of age. Motivated by her desire to express more and help youths that are interested in this art medium, Micheline Couture opens her own workshop in Pointe aux Trembles in 1994. Dreaming of a more peaceful and rural environment she moves to Mascouche a few years later in a completely wooded area. Impassioned by painting she continues to teach and organizes annual exhibits of her students’ work.
In 2002, she exhibits her work at the Nominingue station in the Laurentians.
In 2003, in St-Jerome, she receives the first prize for her work “La magie de Noël” that was then reproduced in a greeting card for Éditions de Villers.
In 2004, in St-Anne-Des-Plaines, she receives a third place prize for her work “Le regard”.
